New patient appointments are designed for those new to Panax or at least to our Traditional Chinese Medicine side (as opposed to cosmetic therapies). A first appointment will usually last around 90 minutes and is comprised of a lengthy intake followed by a treatment. During this intake we will discuss goals for treatment, get a general health history, and put together a treatment plan. New patient appointments are $135.
Regular appointments, also noted as full appointments, usually last about an hour and consist of an intake followed by a treatment. Depending on the needs of the patient, this treatment can include multiple modalities or needling sets. This appointment type is ideal for more complex cases that might need a longer intake/discussion time or multiple modality treatments. This appointment type is also perfect people who come in less frequently or those that would like a more relaxed treatment pace. Full appointments are priced at $95 a la carte. Packages and Monthly Memberships offer full appointments at discounted rates.
Single modality appointments last around 35 minutes and consist of a 1-2 minute intake with a single modality treatment - this could be cupping, gua sha, or one set of needling. This shorter treatment is designed for a quick tune-up, like end of week stress relief or working through some muscle tension. This appointment is also perfect for those following active treatment plans that don't require an intake at each session. Single modality appointments are $45.
Acupuncture uses very small, rounded needles to work with the body's natural bioelectricity to affect change. This change may be localized to the point of insertion or affect the global landscape of the body. Acupuncture therapy may include electrical stimulation.
Herbal medicine is a fundamental therapy of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It can be used for both acute and chronic conditions and may be used internally or topically. Herbal medicine may be taken as a tea, pill, or tincture.
Manual therapies include cupping, gua sha, and Tuina. Cupping is a form of gentle suction therapy. Gua Sha uses stone, metal, or horn tools to scrape the surface of the body. Tuina is a form of bodywork that is informed by TCM theory. All of these therapies can increase blood flow, reduce inflammation and pain, and release tight muscles and fascia.
Heat therapies include moxibustion and heat lamps. Moxibustion therapy consists of burning processed mugwort on or near the body. This processed herb burns at a slow rate and low temperature, creating a soft warmth. Heat therapy can increase blood flow to the target area and reduce pain and inflammation.
